Real Estate in India: According to the Annual Luxury Outlook Survey 2023 by Sotheby’s International Realty, 75% of the super-rich people surveyed believed real estate would do well over the next two to three years.

As per a recent Anarock report, luxury homes, with a price tag of over Rs 1.5 crore, made up 21% of all residential units sold across the top seven Indian cities in the first quarter of 2024. At the same time, new launches in the high-end and luxury segments constituted roughly 34% of all property launches. Speaking with ETNownews.com, Ankush Kaul, Chief Business Officer at Ambience Group, discusses on the evolution and growth of luxury housing in the country.

How has luxury housing evolved in the last few years?

It has been estimated that the share of luxury homes sold in India has tripled in the last five years. So, what accounts for this massive upsurge?

First of all, it is due to a massive shift in preference towards larger homes equipped with all the amenities within the project complex. Gradually, the economic boom and an increase in prosperity, along with wealth creation, increased homebuyers’ aspirations. They were no longer satisfied with large premium homes but gradually started looking at homes as their status symbols.

As a result, iconic projects by reputed developers took center stage. Luxury real estate has also turned into an instrument for investment. According to the Annual Luxury Outlook Survey 2023 by Sotheby’s International Realty, 75% of the super-rich people surveyed believed real estate would do well over the next two to three years. Could you share insights into Gurugram’s transformation into a hub of luxury residences and the impact of changing buyer preferences?

Gurugram is Delhi NCR’s most famous sub-region. Among the foremost factors establishing Gurugram’s supremacy are its strategic location and superior connectivity. Closeness to Delhi and Delhi-Jaipur Highway, boost in connectivity provided by Dwarka Expressway, and a reduction in driving distance to the upcoming Jewar Airport via the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway have further enhanced the city’s appeal.
