Senior officials from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) on Saturday met residents of developing sectors and assured them that a key master sector road passing through sectors 77 to 79 and drainage along the stretch will be completed in the next six months.
Officials discussed various issues related to roads in these sectors with the residents and said a tender has been allotted for the master sector road dividing sectors 77 and 78, 78 from 79 and 79A.
The project includes the construction of 3.35 km long main carriageway of the master dividing road of sector 77/78, 78/79A and 78/79, along with developing surface drainage on this stretch. Once complete, the road will benefit over 10,000 residents living in and around the area, said officials.
“The construction of this road has been an important agenda for GMDA as we are aware of the needs of the citizens in this belt. A new agency has been finalised through e-tendering process and construction will begin by end of the month. The duration to complete the project is six months,” said Shweta Sharma, executive engineer, (infra 1 division), GMDA.
Notably, the tender for this work was first awarded in 2018. However, the work could not be completed by the agency first selected for the project. Hence, the GMDA had to go in for a new tender.
Representatives of United Association of New Gurugram (UANG) and residents of Mapsko Mount Ville, Godrej Aria, Godrej 101, Monsoon Breeze, Umang Winter Hills, Supertech Araville societies were present during the discussion with GMDA officials.
Pravin Malik, president of the association, said they had requested the GMDA to hold a meeting with residents and discussed the master road project in detail. “The construction of this road will greatly help residents of the area,” he said.
